Just in time for the best season to indulge in rich flavors and great cooking, a new head chef, Stephanie Lamour, has arrived at Market 5-ONE-5 to wow you with her unique holiday catering options. Hailing from France and with thirty years of experience, she is as passionate about cooking as she is skilled. Says Lamour, “Cooking and presentation are what I live for every single day.”
Her lifelong love affair with culinary arts began as a child, inspired by being in the kitchen with her dad. At fifteen, she signed up for a two-year, life-changing apprenticeship where she worked in the Champagne region of France as the only female on her team. Then she worked in French, Michelin-starred restaurants and 5-star hotels. Since coming to America, she’s worked in fine dining, casinos and catering businesses.
In her new culinary adventure at Market 5-ONE-5, she’s thrilled to get to work with the best quality of ingredients, explaining, “All of the produce is 100% organic. You don’t see that very often. I really appreciate being in Sacramento surrounded by farmland, it’s a dream for a chef. The taste of local, seasonal produce—even the look of it—is different.”
Working with ingredients that peak in the fall and winter seasons, like squashes, citrus and cranberries, Lamour brings her French influence and expertise to the holiday catering menu. Complete with traditional dishes like a whole roasted turkey or ham, she’s also offering the unexpected, like a Cornish hen for smaller feasts and a turkey roulade stuffed with spinach, cranberries and walnuts. Vegans will find unique options such as a stuffed acorn squash with quinoa, a whole roasted cauliflower served with a chimichurri sauce, stuffed mushrooms, and of course, vegan mashed potatoes and gravy. Lamour beams proudly, “I want customers to try my food and say, ‘Wow.’”
After the holidays, anticipate more excitement to come from Lamour’s kitchen at Market 5-ONE-5. Customers can always expect something new and seasonal on her menu.
